Why Solo site images are missing after export
Last checked: 2026-10-16
If you unzip Solo's download and the pictures are broken, that is what Solo's export contains. The Shutdown FAQ says:
"Image source files are not included in the ZIP. Download each image individually from the links in the CSV file before the shutdown date on November 30, 2026." (Solo Shutdown FAQ)
The ZIP has HTML and a CSV of image URLs. It does not have the image files.
Why the live site looked fine
On Solo, the HTML loaded pictures from Solo's servers. The export keeps those remote URLs. Opening index.html from the ZIP can still show images until Solo takes the files down. Solo says all websites and data will be deleted on November 30, 2026, with no way to recover them after that date. (Solo Shutdown FAQ)
Treat the CSV links as temporary. Save the files before that date.
How to save the images
By hand: open the CSV, visit each link, and save the file.
With the free tool: drop the Solo ZIP on Site Export Rescue. It downloads the public images and rewrites the HTML so they load from an images/ folder.
Your export stays in your browser. Public images and styles are downloaded through our server.
Then unzip website-ready-to-host.zip, open the folder that has index.html next to images/, and double-click index.html. Keep private-form-data-do-not-upload.zip off any web host.
Run the tool before 11/30. Styles and fonts are saved where they can be, only while Solo is still online, so they can't be guaranteed.
If images are still missing after the tool
The private ZIP includes report.txt and manifest.csv. Failed images are listed there. The tool skips anything Solo has already deleted. It cannot download a file that no longer exists.
The full download steps are in How to export a Solo website and the export guide.
FAQ
Why are images missing after I export my Solo site?
Solo says image source files are not included in the ZIP. The ZIP has a CSV of image links. You have to download each image before November 30, 2026.
Will opening the Solo ZIP in a browser show my pictures?
Only while Solo still serves those URLs. The HTML points at remote image links. After Solo deletes sites on November 30, 2026, those links stop working.
How do I get the image files?
Download each URL from the CSV by hand, or drop the ZIP on the free tool. The tool saves pictures under images/ and rewrites the HTML to use those local files.
What if pictures are still missing after I run the tool?
Failed downloads are listed in the private report. Common causes are a link Solo has already removed, or the network not responding. The tool cannot invent files Solo no longer serves.
What happens to my export when I use the free tool?
Your export stays in your browser. Public images and styles are downloaded through our server.
